People and our environment

The steel for Baustahlgewebe products is produced almost entirely from iron and steel scrap using the electric arc furnace process.

Steel produced in this way is characterised by almost unlimited recyclability without any loss of quality.

No other material has comparably proven and functioning recycling systems, thanks to which demands for closed material cycles and sustainable developments can also be met.

In addition, significantly less CO2 is emitted compared with steel produced by the blast furnace process. The following manufacturing processes are also environmentally friendly.

Baustahlgewebe products are thus part of a material cycle that can be continued almost indefinitely.

All production plants implement environmental and energy management systems conforming to DIN EN ISO 14001 and DIN EN ISO 50001.

These standards require not only technical and organisational measures to improve environmental performance but also, in particular, regular training and qualification of employees to act in an environmentally conscious manner.

Occupational safety and health protection are among the top priorities at Baustahlgewebe and its manufacturing plants.

They are always included in all technical, organisational, economic and social considerations.

Continuous investment in plant and equipment improves productivity and raises the level of occupational safety and ergonomics.

Occupational safety and health management systems focus on employees. Regular training and continuing education provide them with the knowledge and skills to avoid health hazards and perform their work safely.

Occupational safety and health protection are indispensable for the fulfilment of all entrepreneurial tasks.

Enhancements and adaptations of technical, methodological and social skills are a permanent task for the companies and their employees.

Baustahlgewebe promotes the professional and personal development of its employees and offers them a suitable environment for this.

In the context of demographic change, the training of young people and continuous further education are indispensable prerequisites for the successful further development of the companies.

Compliance with binding obligations (laws, standards and voluntary commitments) is another self-evident component of Baustahlgewebe's social responsibility.
